I went to the artist talk or Skype with J.A.W Copper who told us about her background, and how she started in the business. She didn't originally wanted to be an artist but later in life she decided to do concept art. She does Concept art for many different game and fantasy genre companies although she started out doing gallery shows. I found that interesting that she would do gallery shows however she stated that it is a good way to show your work out in the public.

Visiting Artist
Gregory Euclide
I went the visiting artist talk and learned about Gregory Euclide supper cool work. I the journey between painting and sculpture, from sculpture to installation. I love the look of his work and how he used nature as his main inspiration source. The way he talked about his process of collecting small resources and how he used the paper to show nature that is unnatural. For example, how he would fold the paper an place type fluid to make it seem like waterfalls, and mountains.

Demo Reels

Good Demo Reels

EQAL Reel 2015 from EQAL visual productions AG on Vimeo.

The EQAL demo reel has great impact right from the start of the video. I think this demo reel is a great one because of its easy to follow transitions. They use color, motion, and environments to transition to other parts of their demo reel which I think helps with both timing and pace for the viewer. They also tied the beginning and ending with each other which is always a good thing to do.

Showreel RĂ©mi Chapotot from Cube Creative on Vimeo.
I loved this demo reel because its gets right into the viewers face about what the artist is able to create. The Demo reel is well polished and shows a lot of all sides of 3d animation such as character animation, background development, and special effects.

REEL 2015 from Matt Dippenaar on Vimeo.
I love the intro to this demo reel it shows great impact in both animation and graphic design. I shows what the animator is capable of with great pacing. I love the graphic design animation he shows that he can get someone's else's label or design out there with a his own twist

Bad Demo Reels

Gnomon School 2014 Student Reel from Gnomon School of Visual Effects on Vimeo.

My Demo Reel from Jacob Lloyd on Vimeo.
I don't care for the beginning of this demo with the artist stating a simple fact however I enjoy some of his animations. I think he is showing to much of other things when the main focus should be on the animation or film.

The animation in this demo reel I feel is made well however for a demo reel I feel like the pacing is a bit off with the cuts to other things. I wish I could also have some sound with in his demo reel to go along with the animation also when we get to the video game part of the demo reel  I feel like it lasts to long.

The animation of this demo reel I feel is a little simple almost to much like regular school work. I need some individual maybe special projects to spice up the demo reel a bit. I enjoy that he shows his process however it proves that he is able to produce his animation almost like proof.
