Final project Q and A

Should contain:
-title (even if only a working title)
Twin Lights
 -genre
Action Adventure
-theme
Man vs Environment

-tone and execution -- what will it look like on the screen? How will these formal decisions compliment / further the meaning of your work?

I wanted a story much like the reward where to two people come together even though they have two completely different mindsets.

The Reward from The Animation Workshop on Vimeo.

The color of the film is based of this animation called urbane which is portrayed in an urban city. I wanted the color of the film to match  that of urbance to bring more life into the city to make it appear more an urban fanstasy.

URBANCE Official Trailer from Steambot on Vimeo.

The film will be vibrant and full of life as to demonstrate the difference in this to lifestyles of the two characters Yubi and Anko.
Anko color scheme was based more off the movie kung fu panda the beginning scene of the movie kung-fu-panda which shows the can of action and composition I want in my film

Final project Structure Diagram/Outline

ACT 1 The Setup
A) What is the story's setting?
1. What epoch?
  Modern Day Harajuku

2. What class or kind of society are we in?

urban middle class society
3. What pressures on the characters does each environment exert?
The environment pressures the characters to have either a urban or traditional mindset causing the characters to live different lives from each other which causes the the main conflict.

B) Characters. Who are they and what does each represent?

1. What are their names, characteristics, and relationships?
Yubi the antagonist of the story ends up stealing the main character Anko's lantern which becomes the main problem in the story. Yubi at first looks down on Anko because she comes from beyond the walls, which is the village, although she loved Chika's lantern because it reminds her of her own grandfather.

Anko the main character or protagonist of the story she represents the traditional style of the village that wraps around the border of the city. She carries the lantern which is traditional in style the last lantern that both her and grandmother made together before she died. She takes this with her as she ventures out to the city for the lantern festival a time when the two cultures come together.

2. Who is most important and why?
Anko who is more traditional minded, less open minded to change, is the most important because she will have the most character development as she learns more about the city and urban life by chasing Yubi.

3. What does each character represent in the work's design?
Yubi the secondary character represents urban life and the main obstacle for in the story for anko to get over

4. What is the main character's agenda--what must he or she get, do, or accomplish?
(Consider this for the story as a whole, then define agendas for each scene. Do they add up?)
Anko main goal is to get to the lantern festival to meet up with friend of her grandmother by her grandmother's finial request.

5. Through whose point of view do we mainly experience the story?
(The POV character is the one whose experience we most share. POV can also move from character to character, according to the storyteller's intentions about what the audience should feel.)
We mainly experience the story thorough both Yubi's and Anko's point of view
C) Conflict. What opposing forces are at work in the story?
1. What minor problem does each main character face?
Anko faces problems in her new environment because she is not use to it
2. What obstacles prevent them from carrying out their agendas?
Anko faces Yubi throughout the film as she tries to keep her from her goal of getting to the lantern festival Yubi is the embodiment of the city so as anko struggles with the environment the more she seems further away from Yubi.
3. The main character's conflict is between herself  and the city environment she is placed within.
(Be careful here that you can name forces in opposition, not just an emotion or tension in the main character.)
4. At what point is exposition complete and the audience in possession of all necessary setup information?
when the notice that anko doesn't seem ready to meet with this family friend in the city the moment before she goes through the gates.
ACT II Complications
A) How have the obstacles faced by the main character changed?
She seems able to counter-act the obstacles more as she learns more about her new environment
B) What adaptations does he or she make while trying to solve each problem?
She starts to think more in terms of the city rather then thinking more traditional to solve a problem.
When coming to face each crisis she changes her way of thinking
C) What new  factors raise the stakes? (What developments make the main problem harder to solve?)
The harder she tries to get to Yubi the more Yubi pushes back
They both lose track of the lantern and have to put faith in each other to get it back.
ACT III Confrontation, Crisis, and Resolution
A) What drives the situation toward the final crisis point?
Yubi is finial stopped in an back street  but the lantern is destroyed because of all the running around.
B) Where do opposing forces come into the final, decisive confrontation?
When Anko understands that the lantern is broken Yubi shows her grandfather's shop which is on the backstreet. The shop also has lanterns that look like her grandmothers which anko finial comes to the conclusion that Yubi was the person she was meant to meet both girls come togather to fix the lantern and go to the festival together.
C) How is the apex of the problem resolved, and which of the opposing forces wins?
Anko wins in the chase although she wins what she feels is nothing.
D) Does anyone learn and grow, even minimally, from this resolution, and if so, how?
Both characters in the story grow with the understanding that neither of them are so different from each other  that the bridge between their cultures isn't so big that they can't cross it and that by blending their cultures together they can create something new.

Final Character/Style research and Story Brainstorming

In my final i wanted  to have a style similar to the opening scene of kung fu panda with almost flat graphic characters and simplistic backgrounds.

title kung-fu-panda

I originally wanted to do a story with twin kids that got lost in a city by accident but i changed my idea to a young girl with a traditional background being lead through a city by a punk kid. I want my characters and environments to have an asian/punk design. I want the environment to be influenced by Tokyo/NewYork.

Walk_cycle_Background

I was thinking about the design of the mushroom forest in which dedra lives. I made some sketches of the different types of mushrooms that would grow in the forest.

Using a mountain design with moon in background, old ruins in middle then trees in the foreground

When designing this background i tried simpler take to it because of the review of my first background.

Walk Project

When doing this project i found it was easier and quicker then the dance. I also found out that it helps  to screen shot the frames movement bars. However i run into difficult with the speed and my character's clothing so I'm thinking about redesigning her to have smoother pants. Although i wish to wait till review before redesigning her.

Profile view

The Profile view of my character dedra

Backstory
Dedra was born of noble rank from the high court with in the middle kingdom for which her noble title was Divine Dedra Lancaster. She came from the highest of the people who lived in the middle kingdom even though she was a noble she didn't agree with the treatment of the native people who were as she was told under her in rank. She was always interested in the common people's culture. However she was told to never associate with the people directly and by herself having being at a young age of ten at the time.
However Dedra loved the culture of the common people along with their music she would often go out at night to visit the town in which they would host small festivals with folk music. However one night when she visited the town their were criminals about having no knowledge of this she head right into danger and she was kidnapped. The criminals sent ransom demands to her parents the duke and duchess who refused to deal with them and abandon their daughter. Therefore the criminals decided to throw the girl to the mist.
Where by the stroke of luck she was found  by some tribesman who took her in as one of their own. They taught her how to survive in the wilds and about the dangers of the mist. There was one law within the tribe which was to stay away from it. The mist was the protection given to the middle kingdom by the horn god it would drive anyone insane if they remain in it to long, and it was hard if not impossible to navigate.
Four years later the girl has grown up in the wilds learning about the culture of the tribesman and becoming a excellent healer and decent fighter. However the fight with in her to know the truth about why her family abandon her made her ambitious to renter the middle kingdom even if it meant renting the mist.  So one night when the carven was its closest to the mist that hid the middle kingdom she went out and tried her best to get through it only to get lost.
The mist started to seep into her mind and she started to go insane. Just when she was on the brink of losing it she heard someone crying for help. She followed the voice and stumbles on creature that appeared almost human. He was trapped in what appeared to be a bear trap.  She ends up saving the boy who as it turns out was a disciple of the Horn god. The horn god appeared to her and gave a piece of his horn exchange for her reusing his disciple and showed her the way out of the mist. He told her that his gate was the only way to renter the middle kingdom and just like that he vanished. Knowing she could no longer go back to her tribe for have disobeyed the law she went out on her journey to find the Horn god's gateway.

Her Goal
She wishes to learned of a way to renter the middle kingdom that doesn't involve going through the mist and has set out on a quest to find the Horn gods gate way.

Meet Dedra
-- A Fun loving person who loves to travel around however she does become serious when it comes to medical work. She loves to solve mysteries if they will lead her to the truth behind her family which is the one ambition that follows her around like a dark cloud. However she stills hates to see injustice done to others which is the reason she wanted to become a healer begging the masters in the tribe to teach her. She has weakness for soft fabric and mushrooms because they both remind her of homelands and her past.

Dance Revised 3

I need to revise this !!!!!!!

My Revised dance project in this project i was told to revise the reference for my character dance and her positions or poses. I was also meant to make sure that she was on beat with the music.
